Edgar Arceo
Woza Soccer Service Trip Leader
Rio de Janeiro Area, Brazil
The global sport of soccer lends itself to rich opportunities of cross-cultural connection, understanding, and collaboration. This proves particularly true among groups of young people. Using the 'Beautiful Game' as a vehicle for Sports for Development and Peace (SDP), Edgar's work entails leveraging the soccer field to create these opportunities for children in Latin America.
Most recently, Edgar has worked within communities of rural Peru with Woza Soccer, a soccer-service non profit from the United States. Now, while living in Rio, Edgar is looking for ways to extend Woza's project to Brazil.
Currently, Edgar is engaged as an English teacher, and in volunteering in nearby Favelas -- primarily as a a teacher and soccer coach.
