Layla Saad has been dedicated to issues of poverty, environment, inequality and governance since her adolescent years growing up in Chile. She has since worked with a range of institutions including the multilateral system, governments and NGOs, both in the North and the South and at the national and international level.

Prior to joining the RIO+Centre, Layla led the Advocacy and Partnerships work of the UN MDG Achievement Fund –the world’s largest fund dedicated to the MDGs - spearheading work on policy research on social justice as it relates to MDG achievement.

Layla has also lead large-scale multi-media campaigns triggering dialogue and action on behalf of citizens and governments for the achievement of development goals. Prior to working with the UNDP, Layla was active with NGOs in Canada working to strengthen community organizing in marginalized urban areas.

Layla holds a MSc. in Policy and Planning for Sustainable Development from the University of British Columbia.
